Our Story

We don't collect athletes. We develop people.

LSMM was founded by a coach who walked away from a growing, profitable agency because of what the business was doing to the athletes he had spent a decade developing. This is that story, told plainly.

The Story

From a training floor to a doctrine.

The Foundation · 2012

It started with coaching, not representation.

Before there was an agency, there was a decade of coaching. Jeremy Campbell, a former Division I football player at Rutgers and a professional athlete, is a CSCS-certified performance coach. In 2012 he founded Elite Performance, doing business as SSTARS, a training company whose job was simple: make athletes faster, stronger, and more prepared.

Those years, spent around motivated, driven athletes and watching what real discipline produces over time, are where the instincts that would become LSMM's doctrine were formed, long before there was any business built around representing anyone.

The First Chapter · 2021

A fast, real success. And a quiet problem.

A branding division had grown up inside SSTARS through the 2010s, helping the athletes already training there build visibility in their communities. When the NCAA opened up NIL in 2021, Jeremy did something unusual: he waited a full year, watching how NIL was actually landing with athletes, universities, and brands, before he acted.

Then he relaunched the division as its own company, The Legacy Agency, now free to work with athletes broadly. It grew fast, more than 60 athletes and over $1 million in dealflow in its first eighteen months. By every conventional measure, it was working. And underneath that success, Jeremy felt something he could not yet name.

What He Saw

The money was arriving. The preparation was not.

For most of a decade, coaching had put Jeremy around athletes who were motivated, driven, and committed, the kind of people who held themselves to a standard because that standard was who they were. Then NIL money began to unravel that. The same athletes who had never missed a rep started missing them. The discipline that had defined them started to slip.

Not because the money was wrong, but because no one was teaching them how to carry the responsibility that came with it. Getting athletes paid was one thing. Not teaching them how to hold it was where Jeremy, and every other agency doing the same thing, was quietly becoming part of the problem instead of the solution.

The Decision · March 2024

He walked away from a business that was working.

In March 2024, Jeremy dissolved The Legacy Agency. He and his business partner at the time went separate ways, with different visions for what the business should be. He walked away from a profitable, growing company, not because it was failing, but because of what the industry around it was doing to the people he had spent his career developing.

Finding the Answer

Five and a half months of stillness.

For roughly five and a half months, Jeremy sat with the questions of what had gone wrong, whether it could be fixed, and whether he even belonged in the industry at all. SSTARS could run without his day-to-day involvement, and a growing relationship with Barwis offered a path to a larger executive role. He genuinely considered walking away from representation entirely.

The answer came through being still. Through prayer and reflection, listening for what he describes as God and the universe pointing him toward an answer, it became clear: he was meant to be in this industry, he had just found his reason. The first version of the agency was not a failure to walk away from. It was what had to happen first, to show him exactly what the industry actually needed, a holistic agency built around complete athlete development, on the field and off it.

The Relaunch · November 2024

LSMM, built on a doctrine from day one.

In November 2024, Legacy Sports MGMT & Media launched with the L.E.G.A.C.Y. doctrine as its foundation, not added later, but the direct product of everything the first version of the agency had taught. Where each tenet came from is traceable to this story. "Grow While You Compete" and "Anticipate The Transition" exist because Jeremy watched what happens when athletes are not taught to carry opportunity responsibly. "Earn Trust Before Opportunity" exists because he watched an industry, including his own earlier version of it, chase deals ahead of accountability.

From December 2024 to today, LSMM has represented more than 100 athletes, some under exclusive management and some in partnership with other agencies. The focus has been on the thing most agencies skip: preparing athletes for life after sport from the very start.

We are not in the business of collecting athletes. We are in the business of developing people.

The line the whole company is built on

The Doctrine

Legacy, Redefined. A framework, not just a tagline.

LSMM operates by a written constitution. Its core is an acronym, and it shapes every decision the company makes.

LLead With The Athlete
EEarn Trust Before Opportunity
GGrow While You Compete
AAnticipate The Transition
CCreate Ownership Through Visibility
YYield Long-Term Impact
L

Lead With The Athlete

The athlete's wellbeing comes before revenue or convenience. We don't build businesses on athletes. We build athletes who can build businesses.

E

Earn Trust Before Opportunity

No pressure, no manufactured urgency, no overpromising. Trust is earned through consistency and follow-through, never assumed.

G

Grow While You Compete

Build while you ball. Athletes develop leadership, business, and life skills during their career, not after it.

A

Anticipate The Transition

Career transition begins on day one, not at retirement. Success is measured by readiness for what's next, not longevity alone.

C

Create Ownership Through Visibility

Media and branding exist to create leverage and ownership, never fame for its own sake. If visibility doesn't create leverage, it's just noise.

Y

Yield Long-Term Impact

Value compounds over years, not weeks. Every decision should strengthen the athlete's future, not just today's outcome.

Jeremy Campbell, Founder & CEO of LSMM

Founder & CEO

Not an agent. Not a manager. The relationship maker.

Jeremy doesn't see his role as an agent or a manager in the traditional sense. He sees himself as the connector, the person who brings the right people, resources, and opportunities together around an athlete. The value isn't any single transaction. It's the web of trusted relationships he has built and can put to work on an athlete's behalf.

Three things give that real credibility. As a former Division I and professional athlete, he can talk to today's athletes as someone who has been exactly where they are. As a father and entrepreneur, he can talk to parents, executives, and administrators as a peer. And as National Director of Athletics and NFL Combine Operations Director at Barwis — a role held independently of LSMM — he operates inside elite performance circles most agency founders only observe from the outside. That combined credibility is why LSMM can speak convincingly to an 18-year-old recruit and a Fortune 500 CMO in the same week.
